Press Release: Angle Days to be held August 3-5
Northwest Angle residents again invite neighbors from near and far to attend their summer festival Angle Days, August 3-5.
The Angle is small-town Minnesota at its extreme and because of its location and border-crossing commute, the lifestyle is both unique and challenging. Angle Days is comprised of events that celebrate those facets.
Events are held throughout the small community all weekend, and the main events on Saturday, including the 33rd annual Chili Cookoff and Blueberry Dessert Challenge, are at Jerry’s Bar & Restaurant.
There are three new events this year. On Saturday, after the Edge Rider’s fundraiser fish fry at Jerry’s at 5:30, meet at Crow Creek Landing for a Group Paddle at 7PM. Bring your paddleboard, paddleboat, kayak or canoe, and we’ll paddle down Crow Creek out into the inlet and then up Pine Creek and back.
On Saturday, Angle Days is thrilled to be partnering with the Northern Lights Archery Club to bring a Free 3D Archery Shoot to The Angle. Held on the Angle’s Airstrip, the all-day drop-in event will feature at least 15 3D targets for archers to practice on. This is non-competitive and all skill-levels are welcome.
The other new event is a Group Golf outing on Sunday at noon, held just after the free community breakfast at Jerry’s. Meant to showcase one of The Angle’s best kept secrets – the beautiful, lake-side 9-hole golf course – this event is also non-competitive. Come simply for the fun and the fellowship. Clubs and carts are available for rent and all regular course prices apply.
The Fun Run is again the first event of the day on Saturday, held at 10AM at the Angle Inlet School this year. Join the fun crowd for some light exercise on a quick jaunt throughout the West End residential area of The Angle.
The golf cart fun is back but with a twist this year – it’s morphed into a community-wide, two-hour scavenger hunt. Gather teams of 2-5 people (any age) and get ready to put your creative thinking and finding caps on.
The popular High Noon Shoot Out – a clay-pigeon tournament – again features Womens’, Youths’ and Mens’ categories. Bring a camp chair if you plan to spectate, and if you want to shoot there are shotguns available for use and shells can be purchased. Thank you as always to Streiff’s Sporting Goods for their support in making this event happen.
The Trash to Treasure event celebrates the resourcefulness and ingenuity it takes to live in this remote place. This year’s theme is “The Colors of the Rainbow”; participants build a treasure from primarily recycled material and compete in three categories: Most Unique, Most Beautiful, and Most Functional. There is also a prize for Kids’ Best in Show. All entries will be on display at the Main Events on Saturday evening.
Angle Days has remained loyal to the local Knight Lighters band – they played for free the first three years of the event, despite travel and lodging costs, not to mention the mosquitos. This year, the live music will take place inside newly renovated Jerry’s Bar & Restaurant, so be sure to step inside for some good dancing tunes.
All artists, craft vendors and flea market sellers are again welcome at the Main Events, which start at 5:00PM on Saturday.

Looks like a lot of fun planned. Someday we’ve got to made it up to your part of the north woods… I have family in Bemidji. We are not so very far away. Enjoy!
